Three Rivers Independent School District has started an initiative that involves High School students getting involved with Elementary students. The initiative is being run like a national program called PALS. PALS stands for Peer Assisted Leadership Services. Juniors and Seniors are building relationships with Elementary Students through assisting the Elementary students with academics and social & emotional learning. The High School students meet their PALs on Friday mornings. This is actually a win/win for both students as the younger students can have a role model and the high school students gets a chance to exhibit leadership qualities that most career fields are looking for.
