Attached are the proposed calendar options for the 2023-2024 school year. Both calendars directly align with state-mandated instructional minutes.
For clarity, Three Rivers ISD will not be adopting a 4-day calendar for the upcoming school year.
FAQ concerning hybrid:
Will the cafeteria be available on weekday closures outside of holidays?
Yes, TRISD is committed to providing food to students in need during Monday closures outside of the traditional holiday schedule.
Are extracurricular events negatively affected?
No, athletes/UIL/FFA/FCCLA will be allowed to practice/compete on Monday closures.
What are the primary differences between the two calendars?
Approximately 3 days difference.
Traditional 163 days with 2 early release days
(3 extra use days)
Hybrid 160 Days with 3 early release days
(4 extra use days)
What are extra use days?
Extra time is built into the calendar in case of unplanned school closures (ex: hurricane, freeze, etc.) Days may be allocated for school day early release or closures in connection to out-of-town playoff games/events.
What time will school start and end each day on the hybrid?
7:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.
Will programs be in place to assist with needed childcare on the Monday closures outside of holidays?
Yes, the ACE program and Boys and Girls Club will be available.
Will hourly employees be negatively affected?
No, although scheduling may be different than the traditional calendar, TRISD is committed to ensuring all employees' pay is not negatively impacted.
